I hate to debbie downer here, I would love for Archie to be doing better in the charts, but that's not the case.
Cook has sold 900,000 with 17 songs, Archie has sold 300,000 with 12 songs, so Cook is doing better. But he did win, so not only are his fans downloading his songs, also all the people that didnt even watch the show but are curious to know who won are downloading (did you know that the finale was watched by 30 million people, except for the last 5 minutes that were wacthed by 40 million?). Winning has given Cook an edge, but Archie's sales are nothing to be ashamed of, he doing pretty well from what I've read.
We're gonna have to wait until he's actual album comes out, to know if people are really into him (and the same holds true for Cook)
http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart_wat...s-to-the-chartsI guess we should. It's now kinda discouraging with the media saying David Cook beat up on Archie again But the thing is they do not count that Imagine had already been released when Archie sang it the 1st time. Everyone had already bought it. They are just counting the downloads from this week. Also they do not mention that Cook received the extra downloads from the final song. I think he got almost 200,000 downloads from it.
This is the article from NEW YORK
NEW YORK (AP) - It wasn't just in the "American Idol" voting last week that David Cook beat up on David Archuleta. He has given the teen singer a pretty good thrashing when it comes to his popularity as a downloadable commodity. Cook's new single took in 942,000 digital downloads in just a week, based on numbers put out by Nielsen SoundScan. During the same period, the runner-up, Archuleta got about a third of that number, 323,000. Other artists who appeared on the "American Idol" finale saw their download numbers rise after their cameos on the show -- including George Michael, Carrie Underwood and ZZ Top.
Is Billboard Digital better sound than ITunes? I just wondered why they get the songs after ITunes.
