I got really puzzled by Simon's remark. I thought this was a great performance, vocally and song choice-wise.
Then, Simon goes and calls it one of his weakest performances..I mean like seriously? What's wrong with Simon, this was anything but weak or forgettable.

I think this performacce is PERFECT...David sang the song very BEAUTIFULLY ...I have no idea why Simon said it's one of his weakest and that it's forgettable ????

Why did the judges praise David Cook? He didn't do anything special about that song, I thought he was gonna transform "music of the night" into a rock song. I think Syesha and little David were the best of night!

David was amazing! I totally love his performance! I'm kind of puzzled why Simon didn't really like it. Maybe he's not into theatrical music? Oh well. No matter. What matters is he sang it beautifully and I'll always remember it. Go David! :)

I thought the performance was beautiful but I get the feeling that Simon is deliberately trying to put David down. Even the non-fans don't think that this was one of his weakest performances. And also Simon's comments on Larry King about how his favourite is David Cook and this week Cook went last again, the second time for any contestant in the Top 12, after peforming second from last the previous week.

Aaaaahh... I know Dial Idol isn't the most accurate predictor but David's points really took a big hit because of Simon's comments, first time ever on Dial Idol that he's not predicted to be safe. So pissed off with Simon because he's making all this stuff up.

Simon can either be:
1.) Pressuring David A. fans to vote
2.) Pressuring David A. to be at par with Cook's performances (which is erroneous because it's not even worth comparing to...I mean, they have different styles! What do you expect Archie to do? Be a rocker? Come on.)
3.) Practicing his favoritism by being extremely biased after the "high" from the testosterone-rockstarish renditions.

David was absolutely incredible! He should have gotten props from Simon! What was Simon smoking? did anyone else notice that extra sparkle in David's eyes? You could definately tell he was connecting with us !

I'm not sure what Simon was thinking but I absolutely disagree with him on David's performance. Maybe Simon is just not big on broadway because he didn't really have many positive things to say, aside from Syesha and Carly. I do want to note that Simon thinks David would move on through to next week even though he thought that it was one of David's weakest performance. I think that says how highly he thinks of David if he regards one of David's weakest to be good enough to push him through, especially at this stage of the competition. I thought David did amazing as usual. He made that song his own and turned it into something contemporary. I actually liked it much better than the original. I think it takes a lot of talent to turn a song into something completely different, and make it sound great. He was definitely one of the best of the night.

you're soooo right. David Cook's performace was not at all original. It's the exact arrangement. ARCHIE made "think of me" his own. His rendition was AMAZING. LOVE!!!! :D

Ooooooooooohhhh first time I heard the song,, it was only "quite good"..
To be honest I was quite disappointed bcoz I have been hoping and hoping and HOPINGGGG that he would sing Music of the Night..

And then it turned out that David Cook sang it!!! OMD it was, well,, to be honest,, good..
BUt I can't help thinking how the song would sound even better if our David sing it!!! Oooooohhhh...

Anyway,, after I listened to him sing for the second time,, I have to admit that I think he rather restrained his voice a bit in this song,, unlike in Smoky Mountain Memories or When You Believe,, when he let his voice spread its wings and soar..

But still,, it was good!! ^^

I kinda, sorta, sadly (sadly because I don't like me criticizing my Archie) agree with you. I don't know much about Broadway (neither am I a fan) but I think David would've done great with something powerful, like you said. On the other hand, though, I did like how he did his own thing with the music (waaaaaay different from how the original goes) and it's probably gonna be in my MP3 the minute it comes out :) I know I'm maybe contradicting myself, but... er, yeah.

As for Jason and Brooke... ouch. Just plain... yikes. Actually, my friend and I were talking about Brooke forgetting her lyrics:

Me: Brooke forgot her lyrics, and they actually praised her for it! Okay, David's WCWIO was worse-ish, but still! What was he supposed to do? "Try to see it my way, do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on? Why see it your way... sorry, can we start again?"

Friend: I know! And sure, Brooke just began hers and it was a slow song, so it was easier to stop, but still!
