Ok so this is kind of late...it's November...but I realized I never posted my experience. So I went to the show in Newark on July, 30th. Let me just tell you, this was THE best day of my life! I had camp that day and was already missing the last day (it was a one week program) so my mom didn't want me to miss another day. That basically meant meeting the idols in the morning was out of the question :(
But never fear! My mom (being the wonderful mother she is) let me leave early so we could get there earlier. I had to change in the car. Of course I was all hot and sweaty from camp (lovely, I know) but I got to change in a nice, clean, fresh outfit. An outfit that had a "Mrs. David Archuleta" shirt with it. I just had to :P
So we got there at like 5:00 and we went to our seats (We weren't the first section but the section behind that in the 9th row) Thank the lord for my nosy mother because she decided to find ways to meet the idols. She asked where their tour bus was, where they park, where they were before and after the show, how they come in, how they leave and just about any other question that would lead us to David and the rest of the idols! We found out that they were parked in a building across the street and that they would be coming out to sign autographs outside the building! Yes!!!!!!
When my mom finally decided she had done enough snooping and kissing up to the security guards we took our seats and waited and waited...and while I was there saw one my teachers and her daughter and my camp counciler and her daughter! Fun! Lol. So FINALLY the show started. I know the pop tart dude and the DJ were fun...but David is even more fun!!!!
The show was great. Everyone was amazing, but you know, I was only there for one person. It felt like FOREVER before he finally was going on. Syesha was there and she was looking as gorgeous as ever, but I really don't remember what songs she sung, because I couldn't hear it over my beating heart. I thought I was disturbing the people next to me it was beating so loud! Then out of no where she started announcing David. Oh my gosh you don't know how long I had waited for that day, that moment! I heard the music for Angels and suddenly saw the piano rising from the floor. EEEEEEPPPP! Pardon my "eep" but that's just what I do when I'm excited.
I took out my camera and started recording. Then I would snap a few shots and record again, then I would go in the aisle and sneak to the front of the section (which wasn't to far away from my seat) I did all this while singing along to Archie. Now, David Cook is a great guy and has a great voice, but lemme tell ya! When I know that we are going to sneak out to the tour bus in a few short moments, it's hard to concentrate! It was sad because we didn't get to see all the idols perform together, but hey! I had a good reason! Everyone was staring at us like were idiots. The looks on their faces read "Ha, they're stupid! They're going to miss the end of the show!" Yeah, well...we're missing it to meet them! Oh, what now!? Ahem...excuse me....haha.
Anyway, we got outside and searched until we found those bike gate sort of things. There were a few people there but we were still in the front of it. We stood there and being the good Archies Angel that I am, I was prepared. I had a photo of David from a magazine that my friend had given me! So we waited and waited and my mom was getting nervous because...well....it was Newark! It's not the safest place to be at 11:00 at night. Well let's say we were getting slightly irritated and the fact that it looked like it was about to rain any second, wasn't helping. There was a crowd forming and I was getting nervous that they weren't going to show. Then all of a sudden I heard:
"KRISTY!" from the other side.
Well I raced over and saw....
Nobody. It was a distraction! Dang, they're good! So I ran back to see my spot had been taken...well that's when I heard another:
"KRISTY!" but this time from multiple people.
I raced over and had to stand in the darkness, but in the front of the gate. I was standing next to a dread head who was really nice. My mom and her talked a lot and we talked a little. Well I got my autograph from Kristy who is just as drop dead gorgeous on tv as she is in real life. Then came Ramiele who was shorter then me (and that's hard to do.) I recorded my autographs from Kristy and Ramiele and unfortunatly you can barely see anything, which is why a stuck to pictures. Then came Carly who is so nice. And I felt bad because she kept saying she couldn't see from the flashes. Then Syesha and I hope she reads this because I'd like to apologize because as she came in front of me I snapped a picture and it flashed right in her eyes! So if she ever reads this...sorry! Then Brooke came. Sweet as ever! But at this point I was getting nervous. It was quarter to 12 and David Archuleta hadn't come yet. The Dread Head next to me was getting nervous too, because Jason wasn't there either. The guards told us they were leaving at 12. Shoot. The fact that one of the people that worked their telling us David Archuleta normally is to scared to come out, didn't help me either.
I heard screams from farther down, but we had heard them before and they were just pranksters trying to get people excited. But my hope rised as a guy came down telling us who was there. The girl next to me immediatly yelled to him:
"IS JASON DOWN THERE!"
"Yep! Jason's down there!" He replied.
"And is David there!?" I asked hopeful.
"David...?" He asked.
Shoot!
"Archuleta?"
"Archuleta? Yeah he's right behind Jason."
Oh thank god! My heart flipped and if I could do one I would! I was jumping up and down and was shaking like a leaf. Then I heard it. I could see nothing but dread locks but I could hear perfectly, Archies famous giggle. I couldn't believe it. Oh my god. Somehow David had made his way in front of Jason and was so close to me, if I reached out I could touch him. Of course though, this lady kept sticking her piece of paper in front of me and I couldn't get a good picture. So I hope she reads this because if she is....YOU RUINED MY SHOT OF DAVID! THANKS A LOT! Just kidding because what happens next makes up for it.
So David comes right up in front of me and starts to sign my autograph. Well here comes my moms part (did I mention she's a wonderful mother) She comes right up and yells "David! It's her birthday! Can she have a hug?" It wasn't my birthday of course and I almost feel bad for lying...but...it got me a hug.
He looked me right in the eyes. And let me tell you, when those people say his eyes are gorgeous...they are right! He stared me in the eyes and said "Happy Birthday!" And gave me THE best hug of my life! But of course I'm and idiot and the only thing I could come up with was "Thank you!" and he replied a simple "Oh, you're welcome!" And his little shy smile. Thank you...THANK YOU! That's all I could come up with!? Not "I love your music!" or "You're an amazing singer!" but a "Thank you." Oh and you can't forget my idiotic smile! But oh well. I got a hug and not just any hug. But a hug from David Archuleta. The David Archuleta.
