Aww Bananas! I love you! Thank you so much for the AI Extra Interview! Love that one!

QUOTE (Bananas @ Jun 18 2008, 01:36 AM) *
I don't think he did. I think it was when he said, "You're young, cute and talented. That's not a bad place to be, is it?" during Hollywood week, after Archie sang 'Heaven.' Because, being the obsessed fan girl I am, I've watched almost every single video out there and I strongly doubt Simon said something like that. I could be wrong, though, but I really don't remember Simon saying that...

I haven't watched all Archie vids *sobs* (but I will try to), but that's what I thought she meant too biggrin.gif

Ehehehe, you are very much welcome smile.gif smile.gif

Oh, and just to update you guys on some stuff...

I'm quite sick (boo!) so I'm in dire need of lots of resting and all that jazz. Also, my dad is threatening to cut off the internet if I don't get my lazy butt of the computer (mainly because I'm in these boards too much, haha) so I won't be able to do your requests as fast sad.gif I've gotta lay low for a while, so my dad won't be as furious, lol. But I'm still gonna log-in everyday; it's just that I may not be able to do your requests as soon as possible. So... yeah :\

David Archuleta Answers Fan Questions: PART ONE
[YOUTUBE]

[clip from previous vlog]
I wanna thank everyone for sending questions to my MySpace and want to get to know me. I appreciate that because some people just assume things. So, hopefully these questions will straighten some things out and I picked a few.

Question I have is from Bev and she asked, "Are you a runner?"

Yes, I am a runner. At least, I used to. I want to keep being a runner. Because it feels so great! I guess the endorphins (I finally figured out that he said 'endorphins'... took me hours, I was so bugged about it xD) or something. I just love it. I used to go before school. I'd wake up at like, 4:45 and just go for a run. I guess it'd be kinda dangerous but, uh [giggles]. Anyway, she also said, "If so, please tell us more about your running. You have a lot of fans who are runners and we feel connected to you in that sense," That's awesome, "And have you ever done long-distance runs?" The most I did with cross country in school was just the 5k. I always wanted to do other ones but with singing, I guess it just took most of my time. So I didn't really have any more time to concentrate on any more running. But running's definitely something I love to do. It's like a good stress-reliever, too. I just--ah! It's so nice, refreshing. Especially when I go with my friends, we all have a good time.

The next question here is from Becka(?) and she asked, "How did you do school when you were on Idol? Did you do online school or something for 3 hours and did you ever get homework at school if it was online?"

I did school online and it was called EHS and I actually moved to the American Academy. You sign up for classes online. It was really convinient because being away from school, you don't know what's going on and you don't have the teacher there to tell you, even though I had a studio teacher there with me. So, what we did for classes we'd--you know, they give you websites with the information you need to know and they have little quizzes and tests and worksheets you get to do. So it was pretty nice.

The next question is from [does quotation mark with hands] &kelly--she has a little 'and' sign before her name--she asked, "Does it bother you when people call you Archie?"

It's pretty weird when people who already know call me Archie, but people like Cook, Syesha and them, and people who work on the show who need to distinguish between the two Davids... I didn't even notice, really. But when it's someone I know--one of my friends--if they call me Archie, it's like, "Woah. Why are you calling me Archie?" [giggles] I guess it's just all a matter of how things started. With my friends they call me David, 'cause I'm the David they know. But with everyone else, Archie doesn't really bug me too much. I know they're talking about me, because usually it's like, "David!" "Which one?" That was always the kind of joke between me and Cook. It doesn't bug me too much. You can call me Archie if you want [adorably smiles].

Well I answered a few questions here for you guys, but now it's kinda my turn here. I just want to ask you guys what you guys are doing for the summer just so I can get to know you guys. I mean, you're my fans, I wanna get to know you guys a little bit. Let me know what you guys are up to. If you're going to the Tour, that's awesome, let me know about it. If you have family vacations... it's kinda fun to know about it. Let me know about it. You just send a comment; e-mails are a little more difficult to keep track with, especially with all the stuff going on. Just leave some comments on my MySpace--that's a great and easy, quick way to do it so let me know, I'm excited to hear what you guys have to say.

Post-Finale Interview with MyFox LA (As requested by iluvdavid_angels2826)
[MYFOX LA (click on sidebar) | YOUTUBE]

MyFox LA's interviewers were on the studio, while Nischelle, one of their reporters, is at Downtown LA with David the morning after the Finale.

Interviewer1: Oh, here he is. David is here. Did he sleep at all?

Nischelle: Yes. Say hi to everyone, David.

David Archuleta: Oh, hey everyone [waves at camera].

I1: Hello, David!

N: I'm glad you guys didn't catch us just 30 seconds before 'cause we were like, dishing--

I2: Trashing the show?

N: Yeah, and doing all of that.

I2: About us? About what? We need to know.

N: He did talk about you guys. He said--[turns to David] You said you used to watch the show a few years ago. I said, "A few years ago? You're only 17!"

[David laughs]

DA: I guess they had some coverage on the first season.

N: And what did you ask me about Jillian(sp?)?

DA: ... Oh. [laughs]

N: "What color is her hair now?" he said.

DA: Well, it's true. It's a different color and I can see it's quite brown.

I3: It's back to it's natural--as far as I know. David Archuleta, I want to talk to you about something here. We've been talking about you all season--you and David Cook--and when I say that I think you have a voice for Broadway, people get all pissed off at me. They're like, "What?!" I think it's a compliment--I hope you take it as that.

N: Do you take that as a compliment?

DA: Well, yeah! [right hand comes up to ear] Oh, this is really weird. (I think they were having some technical issues with the earphone or something.)

N: Is it crazy? Can you here okay?

DA: People on Broadway--they need a lot on their voices. It takes a lot of skill to be singing that much, projecting that much. Like, everyday. It's--it's cool. Thanks for the compliment.

I3: You're welcome!

I2: I think you're like a young Josh Groban. I see this unbelievable ballad voice, very silky and you have so much to grow in to.

DA: Aw, thank you. Thank you very much.

N: I think he's nervous, guys. I think we're making him nervous because he's seen the show and he's seen how crazy it is. So I've been trying to smooth him over.

I2: Okay, so then I'll ask him about the hair comments. With the Mike Myers stuff? And the inappropriate hair comments about you [laughs]. Were you embarrassed to hear? [continues laughing]

DA: For a while I didn't know what he was even talking about. I was just like, [stares off into space] "Wha--?" I don't know, he's just some crazy guy. His appearance is distracting [everybody laughs]. So I was just like, [stares off into space again xD] "Huh?" [laughs and then hand comes up to ear again, probably experiencing some... techincal difficulties] It's really weird to hear myself like that...

N: We're having crazy phone issues. So we've got this weird thing where we can hear ourselves. And he's in such good spirits today, guys. I'm really proud of you for being 17 and doing it--What is that?

I1: What happened?

N: I have no clue.

I2: Can you hear us? Aw, we're sorry. David, when they made the announcement yesterday, was it hard? Everyone the night before had said you. It was a knockout for you. And then you heard the Simon apology.

DA: Yeah, I think it was good that Simon apologized. Me and Cook both worked so hard this past week and he deserves every amount of respect from anyone. I'm just so glad to see him up there. He just definitely deserves it more than anyone, I think. He's someone I've looked up to since the beginning. He's been like my big brother.

N: I thought your duet with One Republic last night was really, really good.

DA: Oh, thank you.

N: And I have a confession to make. When I heard you say "my boo" I got a little weirded out, David. [David laughs] I really did. So, do you have a boo? Were you singing to any body?

DA: No, not yet, I'm still kinda just waiting on that stuff. But, you know, maybe later on when I have more time.

N: "I need you boo, gotta see you boo..."?

DA: [quietly sings] "And the heart's all over the..." I like that song! [laughs]

N: I love that song. But I was like, "He's so little! He's singing about a boo!"

DA: Chris is only a little older than me.

N: That's true, that's true.

DA: I just look a lot younger, I guess. Well, I act a lot younger too.

I1 & I2: What's a boo?

I3: You guys, you're so white! A boo. A boo is like... your lover. It's my shorty, my boo. It's my girl, my boy, it's my lover.

I1: Well those of us who are not black, Jill--

I3 (Jill/Jillian): Don't worry, I'm taking up the black constituency here, Nichelle, so don't worry about it.

N: [laughs] Thank you, Jillian, for having my back. Thank you.

I3: Well, David Archuleta, here's the thing: people like Chris Daughtry go on to become huge and he didn't win per se, but he's huge. And some Idols that win, where are they now? You've got a huge future ahead of you and you're only 17.

DA: Oh, thank you. Yeah, I'm just hoping for the best and looking forward to what comes up.

I1: Hey, would you like to take a long nap?

N: He's not gonna sleep for a while.

DA: Oh [giggles].

N: And like the Sandman showtime(?) at the Apollo. We're getting hooked. Like, they're pulling him away from me.

I1: As an older white guy, I used to know the Sandman at the Apollo.

N: Exactly. I'm doing the Sandman, I gotta go.

I1: Thank you.

I3: Bye, David Archuleta. Congratulations.

I2: Congratulations. All the best.

N: Thanks, guys.

I3: He's very sweet.

I1: Very, very sweet.

The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet (As requested by iluvdavid_angels2826)
[YouTube: INTERVIEW | "ANGELS" PERFORMANCE]

Juliet: Welcome back to The Morning Show. So during Season 7 our next guest many times was declared the new American Idol by the judges Paula, Simon and Randy. But he didn't take the title. He did, though, remain a star and he continues to remain a star. Watch this.

[shows various clips from David's journey, his performances, etc.]

J: But he's a winner with us. Please welcome David Archuleta!

[Archie walks in, looooud applause & screaming from the audience, hugs Juliet (haha she practically squished him) and takes a seat]

J: Well your biggest fans are out there, I think. They're not here to see you, David. Please.

David Archuleta: That's what I said(?) for this show.

J: I'm just kidding. They're here to see you, my friend.

DA: [giggles] Oh, no no.

J: You were getting out of the truck out there and people were freaking out. The windows out here--they're waving at you. They couldn't get in to the show. You are very, very big and popular right now. What's it like?

DA: Well, everyone knows who you are now. So it's kinda crazy. It's like, I'm all the way mi-- hundreds of-- whatever miles from home and people know who you are. It's like, all these people. It's not just like, one person. It's like--

J: Everybody.

DA: No, not everybody.

J: Oh, pretty much(?) everybody.

DA: They're just like, a bunch of people that come up to you and say "hi" and... you know, some scary papparazi people.

J: Are they scary to you?

DA: No... well they're just kinda creepy.

J: You have to be nice to them though. 'Cause otherwise, you know... [mumbles].

DA: I know! Most of them are polite, anyway. So [shrugs].

J: Your dad Jeff travels around with you now, obviously. You're seventeen years old, still. (What the heck was Archie saying/mumbling??? He goes, "Mhmm, yeah." then after that, he chants something like... "moomaida" or something LOL. I don't know! It's bugging me... XD) So you need a guardian, naturally. But what's it like back at home?

DA: I don't know...

J: I mean, your house is obviously still standing there.

DA: Hopefully [laughs].

J: Are people coming by?

DA: Uh, yeah, my mom told me that there are like, all these cars always going around. (I love his face expression when he was saying this, hahaha) And she said people were like, [eyes widen XD] looking through our windows and stuff and I think that's kinda creepy . It's like, "Uhh... a little personal space there, please."

J: What does your family think about this? Are they cool with all the attention that they're getting now because of--?

DA: Um, well, my mom--I don't know if my mom's too fond of it. I don't know what everyone else is thinking. But, you know, I love my mom and she's kinda like me, where she's just kinda like... "Awkward..." [laughs]

J: Hopefully it's gonna calm down a little bit, because you're gonna be taking a little bit of time off, right?

DA: Yeah! A few days off and then off to Tour rehearsal 'cause the Tour's coming up July first! (Sorry. Just have to say that he looked so ADORABLY excited when he said that XD)

J: Tell us a little bit about your personal life. You have--you dating anybody? And [gestures to audience] easy over there... [Archie and audience laugh] Whitney's screaming for you. She's got a ring on her finger.

DA: I feel like I'm too young. I feel like I'm too young to be worried about that stuff. I mean, all of my friends with their boyfriends and girlfriends. And they're all like, all depressed after they break up. "I can't live without them." It's like, "You're seventeen. Get over it. You have school and all of this..." I just feel like I have music to really concentrate on right now. But you know, I'd l--it's definitely something I think is important in life (Oooh, he slipped on that one. "I'd l--" Hahaha :P).

J: Have you ever had a girlfriend?

DA: No.

J: No?!

[Audience 'Aww's]

DA: No, I've never--I've gone on dates... you know, they're fun.

J: What would be a fun date for you? If you could take a girl out-- ?

DA: Yeah, Disney World or Disney Land. I think that'll be a lot of fun.

[Someone in the audience laughs]

DA: [laughs] Yeah!

J: We know who's gonna be running around with Mickey Mouse, then. About a week probably in Disney Land--

DA: See, I'm immature. See, I'm just showing how I'm not ready for this [giggles]...

J: No, no it's cute! You're seventeen years old, David! You're still a kid.

DA: Oh [giggles].

J: I hope you stay as charming and as sweet as you have been to me and to everybody that you've been working with here [audience applauds]. You're a sweet guy, and you're so talented. Congratulations.

DA: Oh, thank you.

J: We're gonna see you on the Tour. We're gonna take our whole staff out.

DA: You are? Oh, cool! (LOL, seems to me like Archie actually believed it xD)

J: Yeah! They don't know that yet, but we're gonna do it.

DA: Oh, fun!

J: We'll be screaming for you.

DA: Well, it'll be fun. I'm excited.

J: [laughs] Congratulations. Can I just-- [gets off of stool and reaches out to pinch Archie's cheeks]

DA: Oh, no! [Everybody laughs]

J: All right, so we're gonna see you perform now.

DA: Yeah!

J: All right, cool! When we come back, David performs!

Ahem, might I just say that I loved the polo he was wearing?! Ahehehehe biggrin.gif biggrin.gif *Runs off to Disney World*

OMG! Thanks for posting! This REALLY made my day  I can't believe we have so much in common! Seriously! I thought I was like the only immature teen in the whole world! But now, I realize that David is too! lol lol.gif =)

EW Idolatry with Michael Slezak - PART ONE (As requested by Yan)
[EW VIDEO | YOUTUBE]

Michael Slezak: Interestingly enough your second week at the semi-finals, I don't think I've seen a contestant so early sort of solidify their position. When you came out with 'Imagine' it was like everyone was thinking, "Is the competition done? There's no way this kid's not gonna make the Top 3 or Top 4." What was like that for you? Was that a relief to know that you've done that well or was it like, "Oh my God, I've set the bar so high. I'm freaking myself out."

[Shows clip from 'Imagine']

David Archuleta:I didn't really realize what the hype was about. I thought, you know, "I'm just singing a song I love to sing." So it was really weird to hear what the judges said.

[Shows clip of Simon's remarks on 'Imagine']

DA: And I was just kinda like, "Oh wow. I was not expecting that." [giggles] I just felt like, "Oh man, okay, all these people have really energetic, pumped up performances and then here I am with this song. I don't want to put people to sleep or anything." [laughs] But, you know, it put a lot of pressure on me because I was like, "I don't get it. What's so great about it? I have to live up to whatever it was." I still live up to whatever it was.

MS: Right, right. Actually, you've got 13 more weeks to match that performance.

DA: It was so unexpected 'cause it's like, I didn't even try to do, "Oooohh!" [laughs] It was crazy.

MS: How was it for you? I mean, at 17 years old, is it hard to deal with the highs and lows of the competition?

DA: It was definitely a challenge. It gets pretty rough, trying to fit everything into your schedule and then school, and then trying to find extra free time to rehearse and truly concentrate on your songs. Sometimes, just be(?) in school, listening to the songs. When nobody knows... (Was that what he said???)

MS: When you're supposed to be studying...

DA: It's like multi-tasking. Just kinda like, listening to music when you do homework. Only, it's really important at this time.

[Shows clip of Randy's remark on 'Sweet Caroline']

MS: One interesting point--I talked to Brooke about this and a little bit with Jason Castro about this: the actual process of judging sometimes seems jarring 'cause you finished the peformance and you're up there performing as an artist and then it's like, needle crossed the record, suddenly you're in front of the judges. And I sometimes I got the sense from you, like, pure panic on your face. Like, "Oh, no." Did you ever get used to that? 'Cause I even thought your final performance--that was one of your best weeks. You looked like you were absolutely filled with dread when it came time for the judges. Did you ever get used to that?

DA: I actually wasn't filled with dread. It was just more like, "I hope that they appreciated the hard work I put into this." Even if they didn't like it that much, as long as they knew that I gave it my best, that's all it was about. Just 'cause I poured my heart and soul into those last performances.

[Shows clip from 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me']

MS: When you did 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me', it just seemed like you threw everything into it. We hear that cliché, "Leave everything on the stage." But I felt like that performance, you could actually almost feel it through the TV screen.

DA: It literally wore me out. It's like, even if I didn't do anything... It's not like I blew my vocal chords or anything, but I tried to get into the song as best as I could, and I just felt like I was able to do that. It wasn't about winning or anything 'cause if I did a good job--won or lost--that was the main thing. If you sucked and won, that wouldn't have been a very good feeling. It's all about how well you performed and how well you presented yourself.
Bananas
EW Idolatry with Michael Slezak - PART TWO (As requested by Yan)
[EW VIDEO | YOUTUBE]

MS: With you and David, it seemed like both of you were super gracious at the Finale. Did it matter that much to you at that point? Win or lose, were you thinking in terms of competitive?

DA: I think the competition ended a while ago for me. I think it's not about winning, trying to show who's better, 'cause we're just so different from each other, and it's not about that anymore. It was nice to be able to take a breath after all of this. I know Simon wasn't too complimentary to him on Tuesday but it was good that he did, on Wednesday, apologize. Because it's just like, I don't think anyone has really realized how much work has put into this and how much pressure there is for us. Three songs a week along with everything else going on--it's pretty insane. I think Cook deserved to win more than anyone just because he proved every week why he was there, and why he should be the American Idol. He didn't even have to say anything. Yeah, so I wasn't surprised at all when... that's the name I was expecting to hear. All my friends are fans of Cook [laughs]. People always wanna know how he's doing and stuff. It was an honor to just have been up there on the stage, sharing that stage with him, being the last person next to him. I couldn't believe it. Someone you've admired, and has been looking out for you throughout the whole thing. He's been like my big brother, pretty much.

MS: And, you know, coming in second, you didn't have to sing the words "magic rainbow" in the Grand Finale.

DA: Oh [laughs]. I like that song. It's a good song. Cook sounds really on it, too.

MS: Magic rainbow. Tough lyrics to (???) (Sorry, I couldn't get what he was saying, Archie's laugh drowned him out :P)

DA: I know, it's like--it's like... I'm sure Cook can pull it off. He has that more grungy--

MS: He's just gonna growl the word "magic rainbow."

DA: If I were to sing it, it's like, a rainbow would appear behind me [makes an imaginary rainbow arch with hands]. It's like, "... go." (Couldn't understand what he said on that part either, sorry.) That's the image I portrayed, I guess.

MS: Now, you mentioned that at the very beginnnig of this season--during your audition--that you had had the problem with a paralyzed vocal cord. Did that ever become an issue for you? Because it's a gruelling 14 weeks of competing. Or was that not an issue?

DA: That was something that happened a few years ago. It was in the middle of Star Search, actually, where I found out. I didn't even think of it as a story or anything but it's something that does kind of affect my breathing. I was there, and the producers were around/in the producer's round(?), and they were like, "I noticed you have really heavy breathing." And it was just kinda, "Oh yeah, well, I had a vocal paralysis thing going on a few years ago and it's kind of affected how I breathe and stuff." But I didn't even say anything about it in the previous little interviews they did with us. I just forgot about it. It did affect my voice for a while. I had a really rough time singing for a few years. And, you know, kinda gave up [chuckles]. Felt like there was no hope for me after that. I was like, just beginning to believe in myself and then that happened [giggles]. And so I was like, "Oh, great." But then this opportunity came and I actually almost didn't go to the auditions because I was like, "Oh well, if I don't--I don't even know how far I'll make it, and if I go to audition, I have to quit my job. My summer job." And I was like, "Oh, I don't know, I really like my job."

MS: What were you doing for your summer job?

DA: I was a technician guy at the Murray Park Ampitheatre. It was, you know, a job I have with some friends. I was like, "Is it worth it? I don't know." 'Cause I really didn't think I would go very far. It's just like, you know, it's kinda funny to see how far I've made it and I can't believe it.

Holy cow, you can for sure ramble on, Archie... XD

EW Idolatry with Michael Slezak - PART THREE (As requested by Yan)
[EW VIDEO | YOUTUBE]

MS: The theme weeks were a lot older. We had 60's weeks, 70's weeks. A lot of these weeks were themes that happened before you were born. Did you ever wish that you'd had a few more chances to sing more recent songs on the show?

DA: It would have been nice to have more of those opportunities. But even when I tried them [giggles]. It's like there was never the right moment to find a song to fit in to that category.

MS: You also attempted to pick, you know, you picked 'Angels' and you picked 'You're The Voice' which are songs that weren't huge in the US. They've got a pretty big following(?), I think, with more European audiences, and Australia.

DA: I'm into the whole European music.

MS: It's interesting that you've found those songs at your age. Are these songs that you managed to discover?

DA: They're not too old. I'm sure they know that I'm a freak about all the charts and overseas stuff. I'm really into British music, and just see what's popular. I like to know why they're popular. I have the Billboard books [giggles]. And like, the number 1 song of each year, and top 5.

MS: So you're a little obsessive about following what's going on in music.

DA: Well, I used to. Not as much as I was before, but I'm still really into that. I always like to see charts from around the world, and see what were really big hits here and why. Just doing research on the songs who wrote them and what they're written about. I don't know. It's kinda just like, my friends think I'm a nerd about it, and I am. I admit it, but I love music. I like to see what people like about music.

MS: Do you think that'll influence your sound, for whatever album you make? I guess that's a big question from fans. You seem to have a few routes you could go. You could sorta go the Josh Groban route, we saw you do the duet with OneRepublic that worked out really well. You could sorta that route. Where would you like to go, musically?

DA: I think I showed my more mature side on American Idol, and showed what music has done for me and my life. The times I tried to do something more young, the judges never liked it, really [giggles]. I like to go in something more suitable for my age. I'm 17, and I, you know [giggles] like to be young and enjoy this time of my life. I love John Mayer and Sara Bareilles. Sa-- however you pronounce her name. B-A-R-E-I-L-L-E-S. (He spelled out her name in less than a second o__o") And, uh, [giggles] I know how to spell it. They're still pop and young with their sound, but there's still meaning in their music. It's like, their music is important to them. It's not just about, "Oh, this is a hit song." You can tell there's a connection to their songs and I'd love to have songs like that on my album.

MS: I have to ask you a tough question about Andrew Lloyd Webber week, because I noticed at the end of your performance you sort of mouthed a little bit like a, "Sorry." And you missed a line of lyrics, I noticed that week.

[Shows clip from 'Think Of Me', when David supposedly missed a lyric]

MS: And none of the judges caught you.

[Show clip of Randy saying, "It was the bomb."]

DA: I know! [laughs]

MS: Were you just like, "I get a free pass, or what?" What was going through your mind when that happened?

DA: It wasn't even that I've, like, forget lyrics. I did it with 'Waiting On The World To Change' too, for my first audition. They didn't mention anything about it. It's just like where your mind's kinda cramped. It's like, the words are there but you just don't say 'em. So it's like, kinda watching something go... Where it's like a raft or something. You're waiting to jump on the river. You know it's there and you know you're supposed to jump on it but you just jumped on the wrong time [does a mini-jump on his seat, lol] and missed [giggles]. So you're kinda drowning but you're-- [giggles] I don't know. (Haha I think I heard a staff member laugh when he said that. Sounded like a lady xD)

MS: Did you think they would catch that that week?

DA: I thought so. You never give a perfect performance, so you think the judges will catch it. It just proves that music's not all about the perfect technical stuff. It's about the feeling you gave and the way you're able to express yourself in the song.

MS: What was the toughest week for you, picking a song?

DA: The toughest week... oh, gosh. Each week is just crazy. I guess Top 3 was really difficult because I had something in mind already. Your songs have to -- when there're more than 1 song -- they have to kind of compliment each other. They have to be balanced. I had my own choice in my mind, and already working on it. Then I got the other two songs -- Judge's and Producers' Choice -- and it was like, "Oh... okay."

MS: They didn't quite--

DA: Yeah, it didn't work out so it's like, "What song will be able to show a different side?" So I just picked 'With You' and it was a fun, young song that I hadn't shown before. It's like, "Hey, I'm 17. This is a 17-year-old's song."

[Shows clip from 'With You']

MS: Yeah, and it would make sense because those two were kinda very... big, sort of mature songs.

DA: Really mature songs. With 'Longer', I actually wanted to do a more contemporary feel to it.

[Shows clip from 'Longer']

MS: I was gonna ask you about that, because we'd heard that you had wanted to maybe do a different arrangement.

DA: Yeah, I was actually gonna play piano on it, too. It was more of a Sara Bareilles kind of feel to it. But, uh, they said it was Producers' Choice, and the producers want it simple. So it's like, "Okay. All right."

MS: You're like, [whispers] "The producers are wrong!" [laughs] (WOAH, Slezak's laugh sounded very evil XD)

DA: No! You know-- Whatever-- I feel like whatever happens--

MS: 'Cause I think it would've been interesting to hear that song get shaken up. That song was begging to be shaken up, especially by a 17-year-old contestant.

DA: Yeah, yeah definitely.

MS: As Simon said, it's an older song, really.

DA: Yeah, but I was glad that they didn't say anything-- they didn't criticize anything about--

MS: Of your performance.

DA: Yeah. So I thought that was good that I was able to do my best with it. Whatever has happened, you learn from it. I think, if it happened, it was supposed to.

MS: How about the craziness of fans? Because we saw some of the footage during your hometown. Was it--someone actually physically grabbed you as you were trying to make it through the gauntlet. Does that ever scare you a little bit? People get a little intense.

DA: It gets a little freaky. It's like, I didn't want to show my farmer's tan or anything [laughs]. It's weird when people don't let go. It's like, "Hey... let... go..."

MS: What's the over-all goal, exactly?

DA: Yeah. But it was really neat to see the amount of support that your hometown... it's really special to see the people who you grow up around and, I don't know. It's just really special to see your home giving you that support and knowing that they're there to back you up.

Las Vegas Sun Interview
[LAS VEGAS SUN]

This interview was pretty challenging to write, seeing as David and the interviewer weren't in a quiet place. Everybody was talking and so forgive me if there are more question marks than usual, lol.

Interviewer: What's it been like so far?

David Archuleta: It's been a lot of fun. We've just started... uh, Monday? Tuesday! It was Tuesday. 'Cause we had Tuesday, Arizona, and then Wednesday was... San Diego, I think?

I: Yeah.

DA: Then Thursday was Fresno, and then Friday was a day off and now we're here.

I: What do the shows feel like?

DA: They're really exciting. There're so many people, and the crowd's so crazy and scream-y [giggles]. It's been a lot of fun. I didn't expect them to be as supportive as they're going to be, because I heard that the past Tours weren't doing too well. So I thought, "I'm just going to sit back and let them enjoy." But they really reacted.

I: Did they bring the signs and everything?

DA: Yeah.

I: Can you see them?

DA: Yeah, I can.

I: I mean, they want to know whether you can see them, too [laughs].

DA: I can. It's crazy. It's a lot of fun, just to see the support that people--the ones that come out and see you perform. Because sometimes you feel like, it's the end of the road for you or some'n (Ehehe, some'n some'n), with the support, but it's still there. It's neat.

I: What was it like for you on the show, when you had to talk after songs and things like that? Are you dealing with that, too, having to talk to those people all the time?

DA: Talking to people--that's a challenge I have [giggles]. Everyone here doesn't have as big of an issue as I do, but it's good to work on it, and learn how to do it better. It's good practice, that's for sure. But, uh... it's all your own experience. Just a matter of going through it and that's how you learn. Learn through (???) (Sorry, he mumbled that last part, I didn't catch it.)

I: During the time--these months, between now and the show and the Tour, did you have any time for yourself to go back home and to do any un-Idol things? What did you do for yourself?

DA: We went to New York after the Finale, and did a lot of press, then we had a week off at home, and that was really nice. It was great. I went to Lake (???) with a bunch of my friends. They went for their senior trip. They let me go because it was kinda like I was leaving too. In a way, I guess.

I: Yeah, from school and stuff.

DA: Yeah, so it was really nice. I didn't go outside on the water or anything but I stayed inside and just relaxed.

I: Did you have to take care of yourself that way? Watch out, be careful because of all the stuff that was coming up? (Geez, I had to replay that 5 times... somebody was yelling in the background, "Don't forget to bring your log!" XD I think that was Brooke...)

DA: It was just a matter of making sure you don't get too dehydrated or sick or anything.

I: Are you getting to know everyone more? I guess, now, 'cause you're on the bus and doing all this stuff?

DA: Yeah, these are the people I've spent the last 6 months of my life with. So we've gotten to bond [giggles]. It's kinda like school.

I: You didn't have roomates during the TV season, did you?

DA: I had Chickezie as a roomate.

I: Did you? Okay.

DA: But then he left and so it was just me and my dad. It used to be me, my dad and Chikezie.

I: Is your dad on the Tour?

DA: Yeah, he is.

I: So are people being nicer to him?

DA: Yeah! I think people have realized--I think a lot of it had to do with the show and they needed some dramatic thing, I guess.

I: You weren't giving much to pick on, either.

DA: It was kind of annoying that, you know, it's like, they didn't have anything so they had to find another way that they could disprove just by watching me, I guess. It was really annoying.

I: There was really no scandal background for you or anything.

DA: I think it was more just trying to find something negative to focus on. Because now that it's over, people have stopped. I think that's really interesting.

I: Did it upset him?

DA: It did. It bugged our whole family. I mean, it's just like, "Oh my gosh, what's the big deal?" I don't think it mattered as much before, because there were other parents there. But when they got voted off--their kids weren't there anymore--it brought attention to my dad, I guess, and him being a parent. I don't know. It was just weird how that all worked out. I didn't even realize what was going on until--

I: I wondered how you guys were [seeing of all that stuff(?)]

DA: I didn't hear any of it until so-- there was a point where every single interview I did, they were more interested in that than anything else I was doing, even the competition. It's like, "That's not even part of my life." It's so annoying because I had to talk about this non-existent thing. It was really getting on my nerves. It's like, "'Kay, that's the least of my worries right now."

I: What are you gonna sing? Do you get to pick stuff?

DA: They want me to do certain songs that they thought people would want to hear. Some songs I just didn't want to sing because I didn't want to lose the moment that it had on the show. I just wanted to keep that there, with some of the songs. There are songs from the show, and there's one I didn't do on the show. It's fun. So it's like, there are songs that they didn't want me to do. There was a song I wanted to do-- just kinda like, balance it because I [did/didn't(?)] want to do a more emotional song. So there's that

I: Were you trying to express, sort of, messages? It seemed like every song you picked you wanted to-- and they sorta got frustrated with you, it seemed. You wanted to present a cohesive kind of, "Let's do good things."

DA: Yeah, that's what I wanted to do, really. I guess--ah, I don't know. They always didn't want--I don't know. I guess it kinda bugged them. It was funny when Simon [did get annoyed by it (?)] and then he saw--then I sing the Chris Brown song afterwards. He was like, "Oh, well, that didn't fit you." It's like, "Well, you're the one complaining last song that [giggles]--"

I: Are you guys seeing him or any of them at all in this Tour?

DA: No, I haven't seen them. I think they might be coming to the later shows.

I: Or maybe LA or something.

DA: Yeah, that's probably where everyone's going.

I: Do you have anything sort of [flushed out(?)] as far as--?

DA: We're doing some radio songs but I'd like to also do some more emotional, expressive(?) songs. Like, the ones that have changed my life.

I: You're also made for it.

DA: Yeah, I guess. Even if I'd like to do the radio stuff, I guess it just doesn't suit me too much. So that's what's hard to do, especially here in the US. It's either you're a really artist-y kind of person, or you're a really radio kind of person, so it's a matter of finding a combination of that. I think, as I get older, I'll be able to have more flexibility. Right now, I guess I don't mind doing the radio stuff, because that's the music I grew up around, listened to.

I: You're still 17, right?

DA: Yeah. That's the stuff I listen to.

I: So what did you do in Vegas while the rest of them were out?

DA: I spent time with my dad's aunt who lives here. And just, uh, ate. I don't know. Didn't do too much. Just kind of, laid back.

I: So you didn't go look around or see any of that kind of stuff?

DA: I did. We ate at the Paris Hotel. It was pretty good.

Video Blog - July 15, 2008
[YOUTUBE]

Hey guys! It's David here with my first blog on this computer... camera thing and I'm not sure how to really work it or anything, or how to do this... professional and cool-looking but I'm gonna take a shot at it anyway because it's been a while since I've had a video blog, and I feel dumb only typing to you guys.

I'm here at our second show in Salt Lake, and I can't believe the crowd! I've been watching on the sides here and it's been so much fun to see the audience reaction for each performer and I'm so proud of my home, to see the amount of support they've been giving to everyone, and I really appreciate that. So go--go Utah! [giggles]

It's been so much fun just touring and really getting the whole experience. It's been a lot of fun. I'm gonna go out here pretty soon to do my performance, and it's just been-- it's so much fun to watch. If you haven't gone to the show yet to see it, you should go, because it's really cool, to see the way all the performers work together, the different sets. It's cool to see the contrast.

Anyway, I will try to do this more professionally the next time I do it, but now that I've figured out how to work it on this computer, I'm excited to get some help on this. I know Jason's willing to help out with that kind of stuff, so go Jason.

All right, well, talk to you guys later! [giggles] And that's the update for now. I'll try to keep you updated on more stuff. So, peace! [does peace sign, haha XD]

David Archuleta Answers Fans' Questions on MyFox Utah (As requested by Takako)
[MYFOX UTAH VIDEO | YOUTUBE]

Keri Cronk: So many people have been waiting for this. We have David Archuleta here in studio. Of course tonight's the big American Idol Tour but, right now, yeah-- he's here.

David Archuleta: I'm everywhere [laughs].

Bob Evans: He needs no other introduction. Utah's favorite runner-up--

DA: Oh, naw [chuckles].

BE: --right here, sitting next to us. I can't believe you came back after we grilled you for an hour and 15 minutes.

DA: Oh, that was fun! Everyone here... it was a good day.

BE: We obviously didn't finish all of our line of questioning, because we needed you back. [Archie adorably giggles, lol] So how are things going for you? A lot of people are curious about what deal you've got, and what you're doing right now, and if you're gonna make records quickly.

DA: Well, we're gonna be trying. That's for sure. We've been working on the album these past few weeks and going to continue working on it. It's been really fun and exciting.

KC: Okay, in fact, that leads to our first question. Michael wants to know: How many songs have you already recorded for your album?

DA: I'm not sure. That whole process... it's not... people record--

BE: You just sing.

DA: Yeah. Well, I'm try to do some song writing stuff, too. And also, a lot of meetings. I guess it's not just singing. There's a lot of work that goes into making an album. You can record a hundred songs and only use a certain amount. You might not even use any of those, 'cause you're just looking for the right songs that will work together.

KC: So you narrow it down in the end.

DA: Yeah. So I'm not sure how many songs I've recorded that are going on the album yet, but I've done a bit of recording.

BE: What is your schedule like right now? Because remember when we had you on before, it was just a whirlwind tour. You barely had enough hours to sleep at night. Has it calmed down a little bit since?

DA: The Tour's a lot more laid-back, because you're not competing against each other and being judged after every performance and trying to learn a song in 3 days -- all of that fun stuff. But it's so much fun! This Tour's been great and everyone's just been having a good time and it's a great show. It works so well.

KC: Are you all on a big tour bus? Riding together? Do you fly to each location? Do you bunk up and share rooms at the hotel? [laughs]

DA: There's a guy bus and a girl bus.

BE: Really?

DA: Yeah, so... I'm on the guy bus. (I love how he says it matter-of-factly xD) That gets pretty crowded.

BE (referring to the fact that Archie's on the guy bus): [chuckles] That's a bummer.

DA: No! It's good. It's not like a tornado hit or anything. It's actually pretty good. Well, from what I see.

KC: Wait, so the guy bus is messier?

DA: Actually one time we had to all ride on the girls' bus together, and they have like, lit candles and it was all nice-smelling. It was kinda funny.

BE: See, that's why I like the girls' bus better. Just 'cause the potpourri(sp?).

KC: Sure.

BE: Okay, let's get to another question. Kathy in Taylorsville: Have you had a chance to drive your new Ford hybrid yet?

DA: I haven't. I've been so busy. We're on Tour so, kinda just always on the bus or at a venue and singing-- doing all that fun stuff. So I haven't have time yet, but, you know... anxious too.

KC: Oh, that's good. That means there's no dents on it yet. [laughs]

DA: Yeah, that's-- that's-- yeah.

KC: All right, here's another question: Now that you're famous -- this is from Bryan -- Now that you're famous, do you sometimes wish you could go back to your regular life in Murray?

DA: When we ('we' meaning him, Jeff and Cook) were able to go back home for a little bit after all our New York press stuff... so that was really nice. I was excited to see everyone, but after people realized I'm still David and I haven't really changed much... [giggles]. I guess everyone just knows me now. With my friends, after they got the hang of it (Not sure if that's what he said, he kinda mumbled it.), "Well, he's still David. He's still cool. Things haven't really changed much with him." It was pretty laid-back. It's like nothing really did change. So it was kinda fun.

BE: James (I actually talked to this person without knowing it was him... haha the wonders of Fan Blast chats...) from Ontario, Canada -- you know, we put this on the web so people from all over the world can see this.

KC: You have fans all over the world. [DA laughs]

BE: 'Where do you see yourself in 10 years?'

DA: Hopefully I'll be doing music, still. Doing what I love to do and only more experienced and understanding what I want to do more with myself in life. See myself as an artist more defined. Just a more defined version of me, I guess. More experienced, more mature. But I still want to be doing music. Hopefully that's what I'll be doing. If not, hopefully I'll be doing school or something.

KC: We're gonna get to someone that locally wrote in, but I want to do this one real quick. It's Amy (She's a member of these boards!), she's from California and she wants to know: What has been the craziest fan encounter that you've had during the American Idols Live! Tour so far? Anyone jumped up on stage...?

DA: Ah... during the Tour... ahh... hmmm. (LOL. I love how he puts his chin in between his fingers. Thinker pose, right? XD) Not really. Our last show in Washington someone threw a teddy bear, and they're throwing a bunch of wristband things. But I don't know about crazy encounters like that. People have been pretty good on the Tour. People ask-- like, someone asked me to sign their stomach... that was kinda -- I didn't do it -- but anyway, that was kinda weird (Surprise, surprise, that someone is a member of these boards too! XD).

BE: How did you get out of that one? Just, "No."?

DA: I just kept moving along the line. After the show there's so many people. They're just kinda like, [does imaginary autograph signing really fast]. All of us (Idols) are just kinda like, [holds arm: click for screencap!]. Your arm's kinda getting a little sore. But it's fun to see everyone after the show. Everyone's supporting and seeing that they had a good time at the show.

BE: Here's one from Kira Perry in Logan: What's your favorite and least favorite thing about your new found fame?

DA: My favorite thing is that I get to sing. Before I didn't get to do this as much as I am now. I wouldn't be touring, and I think that's really cool. Now I get to work on an album and work on the things I've always dreamed about doing it, but never thought that I'd actually get the chance to. Least favorite thing... I kinda like...

BE: There's no downside?

DA: I guess... you know, the weird press things that people really get into.

KC: Like...?

DA: Like my dad. That whole thing was pretty weird, or weird rumors that start.

KC: Oh, the tabloid stuff. The rumors.

DA: Yeah, that stuff. Yeah, that's kinda weird.

KC: We're gonna talk about that later. We'll clear that up.

BE: We're gonna get into it. Your dad's actually volunteered, I think, to come up here. [DA laughs] No, I don't think so. We're also gonna hear from you sing a couple of times this morning.

DA: Yeah!

KC: Thank you so much for coming in! It really is fun to have you here.

DA: Oh, thanks for having me. I'll be singing some songs that I did during the auditions.

KC: Awesome!

BE: Great, can't wait to hear it. Thanks, David.

DA: All right, thanks.

KC: More of David, so don't go anywhere.

Exclusive Interview with David Archuleta at San Diego
[YOUTUBE: PART ONE | PART TWO]
* Credits to Kelly (archie'sadmirer) for giving me this transcript. She was actually the one who did the interview! Lucky girl, haha tongue.gif

PART ONE
Kelly (Interviewer): One of the things I admired about your run in the competition was how you seemed to commit yourself emotionally to every single word you were singing in each song. How did you get into the zone before each performance?

David Archuleta: How I got into the zone... I guess I just tried to remind myself about what I like about music when I listen to it. I'd ask myself about the songs that really hit me and made me feel something, what about that song made me feel the way I did and like how did it make me feel the way I did. When I sing it's the same feeling so it's cool when people feel the same thing I'm feeling when I'm singing. I think that's really cool. I guess it really depends on what the song talks about too.

K: Did you ever get tired of older women trying to pinch your cheeks or treat you like a little kid even though you're 17?

DA: I guess it's kinda weird since I am 17 and I don't think they do that to other 17 year olds. I don't think it happens too many times. It happens like once every blue moon, really. It's not too often.

K: I actually saw you on this TV Guide List of Cutest Kids and ironically all the other people were babies.

DA: [laughs] That's weird. I don't know why... I think for kids younger than me, people wouldn't treat them that way. I guess I don't seem like a teen though.

PART TWO
K: You seem like a very innocent person. Have you ever done anything rebellious?

DA: I don't do stuff that's illegal. I don't believe in that [laughs]. I'm afraid of getting in trouble with the law and getting a bad reputation. I always want to keep a good reputation.

K: Well that's really good! I absolutely loved your rendition of "Apologize" with One Republic. Is there any chance of future collaborations with you and the band?

DA: I think Cook actually is working with them which is cool. I don’t know... I think he sent a song for me to listen to for my album. I do like their style though... I haven't really put much thought into it.

K: What would be your dream theme night?

DA: I think a song from someone who's inspired you.

K: So who's inspired you?

DA: I have a lot of people that have inspired me, like Eva Cassidy. She's amazing. If you want to learn why music touches people, listen to her. She's so genuine and so humble about her singing and you can tell she loves it. And just the passion in her is so cool. I just love her.

K: Worst nightmare theme night?

DA: I don't know. I kind am up for anything and I like to try new things... But maybe rap. I'd look like an idiot doing that.

K: What was the best part about being young in the competition?

DA: I guess sometimes I'd have to leave because they can only keep minors for so many hours. I had a tutor to talk to, so in school, I made friends with my tutor!

K: Would you recommend that other young people try out?

DA: Yeah! If you're really passionate about it and you feel ready, then go! I don't think it's really about age. It's more about if you're mature enough for it, if you really want to, and if you're ready for the work that's put into it. You can be any age and be ready and any age and not be ready.

K: What was the worst part about being young in the competition?

DA: Probably the extra hours of school, when it (the schedule) got crazy. I was trying to fit school in at 8:00 at night or like on weekends or in the middle of my free time. The only free time we (the contestants) got, I had to do school. I was up for it, though. I was amazed that I was actually able to pull it (the schedule) off. I had no idea I could do that.

K: Are you going to finish high school?

DA: I'd like to. I'm still going to try, but who knows what the schedule's going to be like.

K: Well I hope you can!

DA: Aww thanks. Me, too!

K: What other cities are you looking forward to touring at besides San Diego obviously?

DA: [laughs] I'm really excited for my home (Murray, Utah). Everyone is just so nice there and happy. Everyone's just so friendly and there's no one I have any issues with.

K: Have you had any crazy fan encounter?

DA: There have been a few crazy ones. There are people that like jump on you, people that grab your clothes and don't let go. A lot of people do that which is weird. One girl was like, [starts to talk in high pitched voice] "Can I have your jacket? Can I have your jacket?!" "Uhh, no." And she's like, "C'mon I'll trade you!". [nervously laughs] That was kinda weird.

K: Have you received any cool fan gifts?

DA: I've gotten cookies and flowers and Nutter Butters, lots of Reeses. Also, these Japanese doll things where you color in one eye when you have a goal and color in another eye when you complete that goal. A lot of stuff... (Regarding fan mail) It's been so crazy though trying to read the mail. I got to a point when I just couldn't read it anymore. I was soooo busy.

K: Well at least you were replying back to the fans. That means a lot to them.

DA: I was trying soooo hard. There was a point when I was just so busy, I couldn't do it. While I was at school, I had Wendy (his tutor) read them for me but then there was a point when she couldn't do it anymore. I just got so overwhelmed... but I still read them now and then and try to respond to as many as I can.

K: Well I think we have to go, but thank you so much for this interview! (She didn't include the next bit, when she goes into a total fangirl mode xD) Good luck tonight too!

DA: Oh thanks! Are you going?

K: Definetly! I wouldn't miss it for anything!

MyFox Utah: Interview before "Crazy" with Jeff and David Archuleta
[MYFOX UTAH | YOUTUBE]

Keri Cronk: Okay, it's finally here. A lot of folks have been waiting for months for this day for David Archuleta to return home because he's going to be performing--finally--in front of [gestures to David] your home town fans.

Bob Evans: Before he takes the stage at the E Center, David and his father are here to talk to us about the wild ride that it's been. We talked to David a little bit earlier. [turns to Jeff] Jeff, thanks for coming in also with him. A lot of things have been said. So much of it has been a little bit on the tabloid side. Some tabloids are saying you're this typical stage father, really (???) this whole thing. Has that been painful for you guys?

Jeff Archuleta: At first it was just kinda weird, because it's like, "Where's this stuff coming from?" 'Cause it's like, "This isn't really true." So once we understood, and people educated us about how tabloids do things, and when they said, "It's because David's such a good kid and they can't dig up any dirt on him. So be prepared, and they're going to say weird things." It was weird, but we realized that it's just part of this business. You just have to deal with it.

KC: One of those rumors that went around was that after forgetting the lyrics to your (David's) performance, that your father was angry and made you cry [David laughs]. I even read that he wouldn't give you water.

David Archuleta: That was kinda weird, too, yeah. I mean--

BE: Did you get water that night? [everyone laughs]

DA: I got plenty of water, thank you very much.

KC: So were those things hurtful? None of that was true, then. You're saying none of that happened.

DA: I didn't really pay much attention to it, just because I thought, "Okay, whatever. I'm just going to keep on doing my own thing." But I didn't realize how much it exploded, and how into it people got. People were asking me about it and I'm like, "What?" You know, kinda... random. I'm like, "Is this still going on?" It was the thing that everyone was asking me about. It's like, "[sighs exasperatedly] Okay." [giggles] I didn't realize how popular my dad was, here.

BE: Some of it was a little bit about you, as well. One said that you're not this down-to-earth guy and that it's all just a stage thing, and that you're actually kind of uppity. You heard about that during the performances, right?

DA: I heard about that a little bit, until the Dad stories blew up. So I guess everyone dropped all the other rumors, 'cause they got into the other ones about my dad, so that was kinda funny. But, you know. He's a good guy. [pats Jeff on his shoulder xD]

KC (to Jeff): And what do you want to say about that, now? Because obviously at that time, Fox said, "Sorry. We don't want you to respond." Right? Was that frustrating?

JA: Well, I mean, the only thing to say is it was a learning experience to realize how other people -- that you hear stories about the tabloids -- to realize that you've got to really give them the benefit of the doubt. Again, there wasn't one true story. Not one. And so, that was the frustrating part. Just thinking, I feel bad that some people are gonna change how they look at Dr. Because they may think that he's not just the good kid he is. They're going to think that he's like this, repressed-- that these things within because I've been so evil and mean and everything. It's just kinda weird. At this point, it's all kinda just... blown over?

DA: It's kinda done now.

JA: Now we're just having fun.

BE: Speaking of that, it's been kind of a busy schedule for you, though. Has it been hard having David away from the family and cruising around the United States?

JA: Oh, yeah. [points to David]

DA: Yeah, it's been hard. 'Cause, you know, it's your family and you're close to them, and you kinda miss your siblings. But I think that's just something that comes with this whole thing. It takes a lot of travelling and working away from home. I think it's worth it. I get to still see my family every now and then. I saw my mom and sister last night. They came to say "Hi" when I got home, so that was fun.

KC: Gave you a big hug, I suppose.

DA: Yeah. [giggles]

KC: What about your future? You guys been kind of addressing what happens to you now? Have you guys thought about, "Hey maybe we want to pick up and move to LA." Or somewhere closer to where David's going to be recording? How do you deal with all of that decision-making?

JA: As far as that goes, we've been fortunate that it appears that we really don't need to move. We can pretty much do everything. We may have to be on the road a lot, but the nice thing is everyone's been supported of our family, trying to make sure they do things the right way. Nothing's been weird like a lot of people would think would happen in the entertainment business where they're trying to change David to be someone that he isn't and put all of this pressure on him. They've been very, very supportive, from the very beginning of the show all the way through.

BE: Okay, we're gonna let you go in just a second here, David, so you can get ready to perform. We want to ask you this question from Maria in San Diego: "On the Tour," she says, "Who would you say you've become closest with during the Tour?"

DA: Hmmm. I've become-- We're all really close. It's kinda like a family. It's kinda like saying, "Who's your favorite brother or sister?" Kinda the same thing, I guess. I've hung out a lot with Jason and Kristy Lee... Carly... Cook. All of them, really. We're all just one big happy family, I guess [giggles].

KC: That's good, so you're enjoying it. You're having fun on this Tour.

DA: Yeah! A lot of fun.

KC: All right. We're gonna send you over and let you get ready for the song. We'll talk to your Dad for a second and we'll let you perform.

DA: All righty. Thanks! [gets up from seat]

BE (to Jeff): Now, he's going to be performing something from the archives here. Something that a lot of people haven't seen.

JA: What's really exciting is when he was in Hollywood Week, the judges were really excited about one of his performances that they couldn't get cleared. The good news is, I guess after the show, Jason Castro gets to sing it on the show. I hope I'm... allowed to say that.

BE: You are.

KC: That's okay [laughs].

JA: But it's something that-- I mean, we got bombarded with messages and people saying, "Oh, I want to hear David's rendition." And so this is kinda like the hidden song that no one ever got to hear. Now he has a chance to-- you know, it's just more for fun. Let people know what his rendition sounds like.

KC: Well, how exciting! The hidden song that nobody got to hear--

BE: We got clearance here on Fox 13!

KC: Hear it, right now, this morning! So, David, take it away.

DA: I haven't done this one for a while. It'll be interesting to see what happens [giggles].

[MYFOX VIDEO | YOUTUBE]

Bob Evans (Yes, I actually researched the anchor's names. How pathetic xD): This is like a family photo. Kerri, you need to come over right here.

Kerri Cronk: I need to come over a little bit. There we go. Wait, hold on [pulls Archie towards her]. How's that?[laughs] All right. Guess who we have here again. We've got David Archuleta [Archie waves to camera xD]. We've had so much fun hanging out with him this morning. Thank you for stopping by.

David Archuleta: Yeah, no problem!

KC: Tonight's the big 'American Idols Live!' concert. We've been getting a preview. So, kinda what's happening for the next couple of months.

DA: Sorry for the piano, by the way.

KC: No, no, no so what's going on? [laughs]

BE: That was good.

DA: Oh, boy.

KC: So when does the Tour end?

DA: It ends mid-September.

KC: So between now and then, that's what you're gonna be busy doing.

DA: Yeah, and so tonight will be our 10th show here in Salt Lake, and then there's 53 in all.

KC: Are you kind of excited about playing tonight for the hometown crowd?

DA: Yeah, I'm so excited! I've been looking forward to this. Hometowns are always really fun to go to and especially your own. It'll be exciting to go to these next 2 shows, 'cause they're home. Also, the next one's Kansas City for Cook and Dallas for Jason. They're just so much fun 'cause that home feeling is awesome.

BE: When you're out in the Tour, though, how much are you actually warming up--practicing, that kind of thing? Or is it just like, the regular rockstar thing where you guys party all night and get up in time for the show?[everyoe laughs]

DA: I try to keep well-rested. Sometimes a lot of us go on vocal rest. There's a lot of shows so you're just trying to keep your voice preserved and conserve it for the big stage.

KC: Speaking of that, since it's your hometown, do they do anything differently? Do you get a couple more solos or...?

DA: I don't think so. I think it's the same.

KC: It's the same. Okay.

DA: Mhmm. It's a good show.

BE: You don't bust out on a big solo or anything? Just take the mic and just go with it?

DA: Uhh...

KC: Will that be allowed?(?)[laughs]

DA: We have our own sets. So it's kinda like, a bunch of little mini-concerts or something. It's really cool.

BE: Kerri's going tonight. I'm going tomorrow.

DA: Awesome!

KC: I am! I'm going tonight, yeah.

[David pretends to look out in the audience and laughs]

KC: You'll look for me, David? You might need binoculars, David.[laughs]

BE: And you're gonna need a tissue for the nosebleeders(?).

DA: I need tissues for my allergies. Gosh.

KC: Does it bother you being back home?

DA: Well, it doesn't bother--

DC: No, I mean the allergy season here.

DA: (???) with my nose and eyes, yeah. But, you know, it's good. It happens every year.

BE: So tell us what you and Dean are gonna play for us here.

DA: Well, we're gonna do "Waiting on the World to Change", which is one I did on the first audition that people saw. We haven't really worked this too much, 'cause I've been out and about. But it'll be fun.

BE: We have full confidence in Dean.[Kerry laughs]

DA: He's awesome. Thanks so much for doing this, Dean. [pats dean on shoulder, lol]

BE: We'll get out of the way.

KC: You'll be great. All right.

[audience applauds]

Carly Smithson: [in sing-song way] Touching your shoulder... Hah! He hates that.

David Archuleta: [laughs] Oh, man.

Interviewer: Lots of fun this Tour's gonna be, right?

CS: Ah, yes. Pretty much lots of fun.

DA: Loads!

CS: I am looking forward to the South and getting some really good food. The South has some country ham, sweet tea -- I've been missing that. I used to live in Atlanta, and as soon as I get there... As well, my husband's from the Carolinas so I will get to see his entire family again. So I'm very, very excited.

DA: Oh, cool. That's fun.

CS: (to Archie): I'll show you some country folk.

DA: Hah! ... He's country?

CS: My husband? Drives a truck!

DA: I mean, I like seeing all the places and I don't know much about 'em anyway. So, it'll be neat to see what they're like and sing on the stage. Hopefully I don't mess up too much on the Tour but it'll be a lot of fun. Especially going home.

CS: Yeah, I think getting up on the stage and seeing all of those people in front of us -- playing(??) stadiums -- that's ridiculous. I've dreamt of it my whole life. Actually the one that I'm really looking forward to... 'Almost Famous' -- it's one of my favorite movies. And we're playing sports arena, which is the arena where the mom drops him off. So I'm very excited. It's one of my favorites. My husband said he's gonna try and get in through the back door [chuckles].

I: What have you guys been up to since the Finale?

CS: Getting ready for the Tour. We're deep in rehearsal at the moment. This is our stage [gestures behind her]. Our mini-stage that we're using to rehearse and this is our rehearsal room that we've been in everyday and we sat around yesterday and watched everybody's set. It's pretty cool.

I: How's it going? How are rehearsals--

CS: Amazing! It's gonna be like a mini-concert for each person, and we're all so different. None of us are the same musically, so it's gonna be like 10 completely different concerts. I think it's going to be really cool. And they've let us a lot of freedom with what we'd want to sing, and you're gonna hear a lot of songs that we didn't sing on the show, which is going to be cool.

DA: The Tour will be different because you're not gonna get kicked off the next week.

CS: You're not gonna finish your song and they go, "That sucked."

DA: Yeah. Even if it did, they won't say anything, so... [giggles]. At least to your face. In front of 30 million people [laughs].

CS: And we get to talk to the audience a little bit, which will also be really cool.

DA: Oh, boy.

CS (to Archie): Are you nervous about it?

DA: I'm showing how well I can talk in front of people right now [giggles]. But it'll be a nice learning experience from me. It'll be fun.

[Starts off with Carly and Archie laughing]

David Archuleta: I was gonna get serious here!

Carly Smithson: (???) in the hall.

DA: Me-- ju-- [looks at Carly].

Interviewer: So you guys really don't have fun together. This summer's no fun.

CS: We're gonna have a lot of fun this summer. It's gonna be great. I'm excited to go all over the country! (???) to the South. I miss country ham. So I can't wait to get to Hardy's(?) and get some country ham biscuits, grape jelly... I will be pulling the Tour bus outside Hardy's.

I: Who's gonna be the prankster on the Tour bus this summer?

DA: Michael Johns.

CS: Michael's over there. He just grew a moustache.

I: You been able to go home at all?

CS: I did get a week but I had to go to Ireland, and do press there. Which was awesome. I didn't even know they watch the show there, so it's very odd to get off the airplane and there was press in the airport.

I: What are people's reactions to you when you're home or you go out in public now?

CS: It's very scary [Carly and Archie laugh]. I get so overwhelmed.

I: After Tour, what's next?

DA: What I want to do is get the album going. I'm already working on that right now.

CS: So cute. He's playing us all songs. He's like, "Do you like this?" [Archie laughs] And they're all amazing. They're all great songs, so we're all excited about David's project.

I: Last year this time, did you think you would be going on a music tour?

DA: No, [giggles] no. I didn't even know I'd be auditioning.

CS: No, I was wondering how I was going to pay my rent.
Yan

MyFox Phoenix (As requested by Yan)
[YOUTUBE]

Interviewer: How are you doing, David Archuleta?

David Archuleta: I'm doing great! [laughs]

I: Are you enjoying Phoenix?

DA: Oh, I love it. I love the sun. Especially because we haven't been able to be outside. So it's like, [motions for sun to come down on him with his hands xD] "Come down on me."

I: Kristy Lee told me you sit in the shade whenever everyone else is by the pool.

DA: I don't go to the pool.

I: Okay, well, maybe that was it.

DA: [laughs] Yeah. I like to sit outside in the sun. It just feels so good.

I: It's not too hot?

DA: No, I love it. I'm weird.

I: You better move here right now.

DA: I know, I should, and then I'll get tanned. I've turned so pale through these past few months just because we've been inside so much. It'd be 80 degrees outside in California and I'd still be wearing a jacket because we're always inside the cold studios.

I: With the AC on.

DA: Yeah. And it's like, sunny outside, so it's like... looking out the window with my jacket on. And I'm like, [pretends to reach out] "Ohhh..."

I: You're like, "Please let me outside." What's it like to be out of the American Idol bubble? You were out, now you're back in the bubble, but before you were out for a couple of weeks.

DA: Yeah, it was interesting to see how different it is. It's like I just can't go outside and walk because it's dangerous now [giggles]. It's crazy, I mean, afterwards you have to have security go with you. And it's like they have to follow you into the bathroom and it's like, "Um, hi." Well, they're not like in your stall or anything, it's just like... they still have to go follow you everywhere so it's like, "Privacy..."

I: What's that anymore?

DA: Yeah. I mean, come on. But it's weird -- not being able to walk down the street in your home is weird. It's not safe to go outside in your yard because there're people out there. My mom's getting annoyed because there's so many cars going around in a circle and she said there are people looking through our windows. And it's like, "Um, hello?" There's a good distance between us and the street. We have a long front yard, and a driveway, and we're in a cul-de-sac, too. So it's like, "No duh, you're trespassing."

I: So it's like kicking it. You're a huge star, everybody in America knows your name, they know this adorable face [gestures to David's face xD]. You're a rock star.

DA: I don't know about a rock star.

I: Superstar?

DA: I guess just a familiar face now.

I: Oh come on, he's so modest.

DA: [giggles]

I: Talk about the Tour. What are you looking forward to tonight, for you, personally, performance-wise?

DA: I'm just excited to see how it goes, how well I handle it. I'm interested to see how I do with the speech part and talking in between the little songs. I'm not too good at that, but it'll be great, because it's great learning-- get more comfortable the more it goes. This is the first show so definitely it'll be a little rusty.

I: Oh, right. The girls will be screaming so loud you won't be able to hear yourself think.

DA: Oh, no [giggles].

I: We love you in Phoenix, David.

DA: Aw, thanks. I love Phoenix. It's so nice to see-- I have family in Arizona but not Phoenix. They're all the way in Yuma.

I: I worked in Yuma for two years.

DA: Really?

I: Yes.

DA: Wow.

I: You'll have to ask them if they know me. Because I knew everybody in Yuma.

DA: Really?

I: Yeah!

DA: I think they're in the military base.

I: MCAS-- Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.

DA: Really? [laughs] (Haha he seems to be saying that a lot.)

I: Yes!

DA: Wow, that's cool. They came up over the weekend to come say hi and stuff. It was fun, I went to church with them.

I: Oh, cool.

DA: Yeah, it was nice to see them.

I: We were checking out your MySpace page earlier today, and we saw that y'all went go-karting the other night.

DA: Yeah!

I: How was that?

DA: Oh my gosh. I was tired, because it was after rehearsal and I'm like, "I don't know if I'm gonna go." But Kristy was dragging me. So like, "Okaaay." And then it was sooo much fun. It was great. I love it. I didn't want to stop but, you know, money. And it was midnight, so it's like, "Tired." But I wanted to keep doing it. It's fun.

I: Come back anytime--

DA: (???) on a date. I'll take someone there for a date. It'll be fun. (I LOVE how he casually says that! XD)

I: Talk about lovelife. Are you seeing anyone, you have any girlfriend?

DA: No, I'm too young for that. I'm 17. I think people are so (im?)mature when they're... "Oh, this person's my life. They just broke up with me, I don't know what I'm gonna do." It's like, "Oh my gosh. You're like, what, younger than me?" I don't know. They're just so (im?)mature it bugs me. I'm sure the time will come where I'll get, you know... I'll... "I think I like this person." But, I just feel so immature right now.

I: Oh my gosh, no. You sound mature for even saying that.

DA: Just waiting for the right person. I think her personality will definitely pop out. When, it's like, "Oh. I think I like this person." But, hasn't happened yet.

I: Well if you need any reccommendations, I know probably about a billion girls who would love to date you. So, just let me know.

DA: As long as they're themselves.

I: Of course.

DA: You know, like, "Oh yeah, hah..." You just have to be yourself and be comfortable because that's the most attractive thing I think anyone could do.

I: Are you particular to like, blondes or brunettes or anything?

DA: No. I think personality. Personality is where it's at. And then I'll worry about the other stuff. (Precious moment when he pulls up his pants... ROFL XDDD)

I: [laughs] I love it. Now when can we get the David Archuleta CD?

DA: Hopefully by the fall. It just depends how things turn out. We've been working on it already, just trying to fit recording sessions in between Tour dates and stuff. Going to LA... all that fun stuff. I'm so excited. I can't wait. I wish I had more time, though, just because everything's so hectic and crazy with the Tour, then the album, trying to balance both of them at the same time.
